(Part 001)
...
A crude stone knife nearly five-feet long rests firmly in my grasp, allowing me to shave the bark off an uprooted tree. I glance to my right and spot four Titanesses silently carving various figures and shapes into their section of the log. All four are naked, but none are particularly attractive. Their fat bodies and giant jowls give them wild, animalistic appearances.
I scrape off the bark, bit by bit. I'm not sure what my host is doing, but I seem to be crafting some sort of spiritual effigy. Something like a gravestone, except it's a tree.
A loud snap makes me flinch. I tilt my head to the right toward the woman at the far end of the tree. The Titaness, a fifty-foot-tall creature with scraggly black hair, grunts. "Damn. I snapped another knife. Selene, pass me a new one."
My host nods. I turn to my left, where ten additional knives sit. Grabbing the closest one, I lightly toss it to the Titaness. "Here, Kuva. Try not to break this one. That's the third already."
Kuva snatches it from the air with surprising dexterity. "I hate this work. The men sit around a campfire and tell stories while we carve the Soul Bridge. I'm no good with my hands."
"None of us like it," A redheaded Titaness across from me says. She pauses her carving for a moment to look at Kuva. "But such is our lot in life. This spiritual guide is for the good of our little sister, Megara. A day of work is well-worth ensuring her well-being as she travels to the ancestral spirits in Valhalla."
Kuva rolls her eyes. "Hah. I don't believe in them, Astarte. You're naive, believing in such tales."
"Kuva!" I gasp at her, my eyes widening. "Don't blaspheme our ancestors! A thousand years of bad luck follow those who do! Why, their specters guide us to this day!"
The black-haired Titaness appears skeptical. "Father claimed the Ancestral Spirits would protect him, but look at what happened. Zeus struck him down in his sleep. Where were the spirits when Cronus needed them most?"
"Kuva's right," a Titaness directly across from her says. She continues to cut into the log without stopping. "Cronus was the most devout of all Titans. For him to die only proves they don't exist. The Soul Bridge is useless."
"You're wrong," I mutter under my breath, returning my attention to shaving off the bark at my end. "Cronus angered the ancestors. They despised his lazy ways, and thus chose Zeus as his successor. How else do you think King Zeus could have overpowered our patriarch so easily?"
Kuva sneers. "With his cunning. Cronus was a lazy old man. I wept tears of joy at the news of his passing. He said nothing when the Clan of the Tiger attacked mine in the dead of night."
My blood begins to boil. I pause my cutting to glare at Kuva. "Don't try to turn this on my clan. Yours refused to repent for their profanity. They shouted vile insults at my brothers. The Ancestral Spirits blessed our strike against you. We suffered no losses, while the filth-talkers among yours perished like seal cubs."
Kuva grips her knife tightly. Her eyes slowly lower to my throat as she considers slitting it. "I won't sit and listen to your poison, Selene. Another word, and I'll..."
"You'll what? Attack me? You can't win. Shame clouds your judgment. Perhaps if you gazed inward, you might see the truth in my words. The Ancestors looked down upon Cronus, as they do upon you. Profaning their name further only proves you've yet to learn your lesson."
"Oy, let's calm things down," Astarte says. She glances from Kuva to me warily, silently hoping neither of us escalates our spat any further. "There's no need to attack each other. We've lost one sister already. To lose another would be-"
"She wasn't my sister," Kuva snarls. "Megara was a pathetic little whelp, barely ten thousand years old. It's no wonder that she died to a bunch of tiny little red rats. I could crush them under my thumb."
"How... how dare you insult the dead!" I jump to my feet. Kuva echoes me, clutching her knife tightly. "I've had enough of you! Leave! I don't want your blasphemous carvings on my sister's Soul Bridge."
Kuva nods. A cruel smile stretches across her face. "I didn't want to be here anyway. Come, Lira. Let us leave these three to cut their logs. Perhaps we should pay them a visit later."
The Titaness sitting across from Kuva swallows nervously. She sits a few feet shorter than her elder sister, and appears less willing to escalate the conflict. Still, she stands up and gently sets her knife down. "Ah, m-maybe. Kuva, there's no need to be rude. We should-"
"Idiot!" Kuva slaps her sister, her strength sending a stiff breeze through the forest. "Now is the time to stand up for your clan! Stop with the indecisiveness."
"Don't bully Lira," Astarte says. "Unlike you, she is not quick to violence. You could learn a few things from her."
Kuva flares her nostrils. She rears her arm back and flings the knife down with all her strength. It stabs into the log with terrific force, splitting it from the top down. A crack rushes through the middle and stops halfway.
"That's what I think about your pathetic clan," Kuva says with a sneer. She grabs Lira's arm and drags her sister away. "Come. We'll leave these simple-minded peasants to their work."
My host, Selene, fumes silently. She clutches her knife tighter and starts to take a step toward Kuva. Something grabs my hand. I glance down to see the final Titaness, a brown-haired female who has stayed silent the whole time.
"Don't. The Ancestral Spirits will punish those blasphemers. Have faith. Damaging a Soul Bridge is a grave insult. I suspect their days are numbered already."
I start to pull away, but pause to consider her words. "Will the Ancestors punish them, Chantis, or will they expect us to do so in their name, as Zeus did to Cronus?"
Chantis shakes her head. "The ways of our ancestors are mysterious. Sit. Help me repair the Soul Bridge. Kuva damaged it greatly. We may have to start over."
I nod and plop down, still glaring at Kuva's back as she lumbers through the forest. I can barely make out the top of her head.
"The nerve of that woman. How dare she act so terribly on Megara's Day of Remembrance."
With my eyes still fixed on Kuva's head, something disturbing happens. She suddenly disappears, as though she had ducked down.
Thud.
In the distance, not far away, the sound of a boulder hitting the ground makes my eye twitch.
Astarte stiffens. "What was that?"
I narrow my eyes. A flock of birds bursts into the air as another massive thud shakes the Earth. "I think Kuva fell over. Maybe Lira did, as well. Strange. They have many undesirable traits, but clumsiness is not among them."
Chantis turns to look in the direction the other two left. "Hm? I wonder."
She clambers to her feet. Motioning with her hands, a film appears over Chantis's body. Her skin becomes transparent within seconds, turning her all but invisible in the waning daylight.
"Hold a moment," Chantis says. A shift of movement in the air reveals her body levitating off the ground. She hovers up until I lose sight of her after a hundred feet.
The sound of a twig snapping echoes from the forest. My stomach tightens.
I know what's coming. The women don't.
Valac. The Grim Reaper. In the previous vision, he attacked them. Since I'm seeing things from their point of view, it won't be long before he strikes.
My host jumps to her feet. "Astarte. Danger. Something's coming."
Astarte nods. She stands up and forms several magic seals. "Forest creatures, I implore you... be my eyes and ears."
Both of us stare breathlessly into the darkness. The fading sunlight provides little illumination under the dense canopy. I'm defenseless, standing in a clearing, naked with no weapons. When Valac appears, the three Titans won't have a chance.
A flash of movement. Something white rushes from the forest cover directly at my neck. Only Selene's reflexes save her, as she jerks to the right at the last second. A sharp pain on my left makes me wince. Something cut me.
Whatever it was, it zips past me too quickly for my eyes to follow. Another disc-like projectile silently rushes out of the forest, aimed at Astarte's neck.
"Look-!"
I try to warn her, but she sees it coming. Astarte bends over backward, allowing the circular object to whiff above her face harmlessly. My eyes track it for a split-second as it slices through the trunk of a tree, passing through the wood like it was air.
The tree falls over behind me, but I quickly turn my attention to the unseen assailant. "Astarte! Someone is trying to decapitate us! Protect your neck!"
Raising my hand, I form magic signs. Multi-colored crystals with the density of diamonds magically envelop my hands, giving me the world's sturdiest gauntlets. Similar crystals appear all across my body, hardening in place to provide me with natural armor.
Astarte dives to the ground and rolls behind me, shaking the planet. "I'm searching the woods. My pets haven't found anyone yet!"
A glance at the ground reveals hundreds of tiny movements near my feet. Rats and mice fan out through the forest, searching for our attacker. Suddenly, a chorus of screeches erupts a hundred feet away as birds fly into the air.
"There!" Astarte points her finger toward the disturbance. "That's-"
A sound like a dart whistling through the air sails past the back of my head. Astarte's voice cuts off mid-sentence. I spin around to gaze in horror as she stumbles backward, her head cleanly separated from the rest of her body.
"Ahhhhh! Astarte!! NOO!!"
Selene's vision goes red as she tries to grab her falling sister. Too late, she turns to see another circular disc sailing toward her neck.
I flinch, waiting for death.
Instead, the disc explodes against my throat, shattering when it impacts Selene's crystalline armor.
Now I understand.
The assailant isn't Valac. It's someone else. Someone who's hurling razor-sharp ice-discs. Perfect for slicing through flesh and bone, but terrible against high-density crystals.
Right on cue, a tiny demoness leaps into view. Her red skin, white tattoos, and blue lingerie identify her as Nerissa. She must have come here to kill Titans, just like Satan requested.
"You're a sturdy one!" Nerissa yells. "But I already killed the other three! You're the only lady left! Hahaha!"
Selene's blood boils. "YOU!! How dare you kill my sister!" A sensation like lava pours across her skin. She spins on her heel and kicks her foot into the dirt, pouncing at Nerissa with terrifying speed.
Nerissa's haughty smile vanishes. "Oh, shit!" She dives to the ground, narrowly avoiding my massive palm as I swipe my arm out and tear several trees from the Earth. They sail through the air and crash into the forest several hundred feet away.
Selene grinds her teeth together as she spins around, trying to find the demoness. "Where are you?! Coward! Only a vile monster attacks from the shadows!!"
All traces of politeness leave Selene as her inner rage continually increases. Every pore on her skin burns with the heat of a volcano. With a horizontal slicing motion, she sweeps the side of her hand out in a karate-chop and levels a dozen other trees.
Biting cold strikes my calf. "Ahh!"
I quickly lower my gaze to spot the demoness below me, darting around with her tiny little body as she pours waves of frigid cold on my feet. Any trace of overconfidence leaves her face as she spirals around, trying desperately to shatter my leg.
Nerissa jumps away when she realizes I've spotted her. However, something invisible grabs and lifts her into the air. She yelps in surprise. "What?!"
I half-expect to see Chantis materialize before me, but instead, her voice comes from the sky. "Selene! I have her with my telekinesis! NOW!"
I nod. My fist flies at the succubus faster than I think possible. I smash Nerissa with every ounce of strength in my body, punching her into the Earth with the force of a falling battleship.
Nerissa hits the dirt with a terrific boom.
Her body explodes into white particles, scattering snow and ice everywhere.
A moment later, agony rips through my spine. Several pointed objects, like knives, lance into my back, hitting the cracks in my armor. "Gahhh!"
"That was a close one!" Nerissa yells. "You almost had me! Too bad that was only an ice clone!"
I spin to face her, but my frozen foot has no feeling left in it. I trip and fall, gasping as she forms a massive ice spear beneath me.
SHIK.
The ten-foot-tall ice pole lances through my stomach. A quick glance to my left shows Nerissa leaping into the air. She blasts ice across my back, widening the pole's base to hold me fast to the ground.
"Hahaha! You're pretty pathetic!" Nerissa says. She lands on my back, motions with her hands, and materializes another spear directly above my heart.
No!!
Selene's voice screams in my mind.
I won't die here! I WON'T!!
Like a bank vault opening to reveal its treasure, something unlocks in Selene's heart. She smashes her fist into the ground and roars like a wild animal. "GROOOOAAARR!!"
The sudden, unexpected movement catches Nerissa off-guard. She slips and falls off my back as I shove myself off the ground, ripping up several tons of dirt stuck to her ice pole along with me.
I sweep around and slap the demoness in midair. This time, when my palm strikes her, the feeling of flesh and blood screaming in pain greets my ears. A wet splat is all I hear as Nerissa goes flying into the forest, tumbling end over end.
"Selene!!"
A masculine voice calls out from the forest several miles away. I spare only a fleeting glance toward the speaker and spot a dozen Titans running toward me, each one a potential reinforcement to help me fight off the lone demoness.
It'll be a few minutes before they can arrive.
Selene's voice bellows in my mind. No! She isn't dead! I've got to find that little wretch and rip her head off!
The Titaness's eyes burn like coals as she swivels around, using the ice-spear through her chest to knock other trees out of her way. If her body is in pain, I can't feel it. Endorphins increase her reflexes and senses to supernatural levels. The darkness of the night appears dramatically brighter with her incredible vision lasering around.
Three ice-discs whiff through the trees, slicing the foliage apart instantly. Selene easily bats them aside. She stomps fifty feet toward their origin point to see Nerissa standing, one arm hanging broken at her side. Nerissa's enraged expression mirror's Selene's as blood rushes from several open wounds on her face, chest, and legs.
"Stupid Titan! My blades can cut through anything! You must have a weakness!"
Selene doesn't reply. She aims her hand at the succubus, and the crystals adhered to her palm blast outward, showering the ground with a hail of darts.
They miss. Nerissa motions with her remaining arm and explodes into a cloud of icy vapor, allowing Selene's attack to hit nothing but air.
A voice squeaks from my shoulder. "AHA! I knew it!" I turn my head just in time to see Nerissa standing, another disc hovering over her palm and spinning like a top.
Nerissa's eyes jerk to the back of my neck. She flings the disc, sending agonizing pain ripping through my mind. My body gives out as she severs my head from my spine. My sense of touch vanishes as the ground rushes at my face.
"Selene, no!"
A voice calls out to me from the sky above. I can't reply. Another ice spear stabs through the back of my neck, bursts through the crystals hardened around my throat, and rips my head from my shoulders.
As the world goes black around me, Selene's mind whispers its last, agonized thought. Sister Astarte... I will join you in Valhalla.
....................................................................
I reappear almost instantly inside Nerissa's mind. She chokes on blood for a moment, then grabs Selene's bedraggled hair. The Titaness's bloody head hangs in her grasp as Nerissa pounces away, scanning the sky warily for the invisible Titaness. She sees nothing.
I'm injured — bad shape. Lord Satan will be disappointed to see me like this! I'll have to ask Belial to heal me before I deliver the heads. Ahh! He only wanted one! What if he's angry that I have four? Maybe I should just bring one?! I don't know! What should I do?
Nerissa grits her teeth. She keeps to the darkness of the forest after snatching Astarte's head, and quickly scans the area, looking for the other two. She finds their decapitated bodies not long after, and soon the tiny little succubus starts lugging four Titan heads behind her as she zooms through the woods, holding all of them by their hair with only one hand.
I find myself surprised at Nerissa's physical strength. She might even have muscles comparable to Belial.
Nerissa leaps from branch to branch, avoiding the ground.
Everyone said I was only fit to be a whore, but I'm better than that. I'm a fighter! Succubi and Incubi aren't only fucktoys for others to relieve themselves. We deserve better! No, that's not right. We need to earn our keep. We can't expect a handout. I have to lead by example and show Lord Satan that we have value; that I have value.
Satisfied that nobody is following her, Nerissa pauses after traveling a few miles. She drops to the forest floor and releases the Titaness heads, then sags against a tree.
With the adrenaline from the fight wearing off, she finally notices the agony ripping through her left arm. Nerissa clutches a rib and winces. "B-broken. Hurts to breathe."
She closes her eyes. That giantess put up more of a fight than the others. I'm lucky I found that exposed part on the back of her neck, or I wouldn't have won. I'm fortunate I survived... if she had hit me any harder, she would have turned my bones into mud.
Nerissa's breathing evens out. She pants quietly for a moment, then finally opens her eyes to stand up.
Her blood turns colder than her ice magic.
Standing before her is a massive demon wearing tattered clothes. His skinless body and face gaze at her without a trace of emotion.
"I would like you to know that I enjoyed your little show. Four Titans dead after you severed their heads, but I cannot let you go."
Valac clutches his lantern with his upper left arm and gazes at me. He appears at least a foot taller than the last time I saw him, and his presence is far more intimidating than before.
Nerissa's breath catches. "V-Valac... but... I didn't hear you... arrive..."
The Grim Reaper's smoldering red eyes gaze into my soul. "As you stand here among this flora, you also live within my soul aura. My presence has expanded to the ends of the Earth; I see all who die and all who give birth. To date, three thousand Titans I have slain, but today you've amused me with the blood you let rain."
Nerissa's heart skips a beat. I can't fight Valac. His power is... it's too incredible! He might be stronger than Satan! How can I escape? I can't! I'm barely in any shape to run!
Valac's eyes lower as he scans my body. I feel creeped out, not because he's looking at me like a man looking at a piece of ass, but because he sees me as a mere lump of flesh. His casual disdain for pleasure comes across without him saying a single word.
"What... what do you want from me?" I ask.
"I came to watch the little bird shiver. Four heads to Satan you plan to deliver. To what purpose, I must ask? To toil for him, would you perform any task?"
I nod hesitantly. "Y-yes. These are for Satan. Are... are you going to kill me?"
Valac shifts his feet. I flinch, expecting an attack, but he only tilts his head questioningly.
"While you have potential, your soul is as weak as a sow's. I crave the power of the Titans, given the energy they endow. Still, for me to visit you, my goal you might deduce; I have decided that for me, you may yet have a use."
Dread creeps into the back of Nerissa's mind. "You... you want to use me? Why?! I'm nobody! I'm just a succubus! A whore! I can't do-"
Valac's hand darts out, too fast for me to react. He grabs me by the throat and slams me against the tree. "Lies, never-ending, they flow from your lips. You have no choice but to help me; you'd better come to grips. Satan's love and trust; that is what you seek. Sadly, under my employ, havoc is what you'll wreak."
Maggots crawl on Valac's bony arms. I try to pull him off, but he's far stronger than me. Slowly, his hand crawls up my neck, then my chin, and soon he clutches my entire face.
"Mmgh!" Nerissa tries to break free, but she can't pull him off.
Valac's voice turns monotone. "Quiet. I'm thinking."
Dizziness overtakes me. My body increases in weight, as a thousand anvils begin to compress my chest.
I can't speak. I can't scream. I can't even breathe!
A bloodshot eye appears in the darkness. The freakish specter shakes and trembles as it approaches me.
"Master Valac, he's the puppet master of the ages. His plans, complicated, come in stages. Resist, cry, and lie in defeat. It makes no difference; to him, you're a tasty treat!"
Something drills into my ear. The piercing agony makes me want to cry, as a creature burrows deeply. I feel it wriggle around and slide through my brain, down my throat, and stop somewhere near my stomach. Terror fills me, but I can't fight back.
"A gift we give, be glad you live. For us, you toil, conflict, you embroil."
The darkness vanishes. Valac retracts his hand, and I lose my footing, falling to the ground.
After a moment, I blink deliriously, only to realize my pain has vanished. I glance at my broken arm and watch as it mends itself, along with the rest of my body.
"I like you a lot, pretty little succubus. Your cute little face makes you quite innocuous. You'd better learn to trick people and tell moving lies. Say a word about me and your sister dies."
Nerissa freezes. "B-Belial? You'll kill her?"
Valac nods. "I will."
"But... but why? She's a demon, just like you! No, more importantly... what did you do to me?! There's... something in my stomach!"
Valac turns his back to me. "Farewell, Nerissa. Speak not a word, not a squeak, not a shout, and rest soundly... knowing you must be my loyal scout."
A soul exits Valac's lantern. It sails through the forest, and he disappears a moment later, teleporting after it.
Nerissa slumps to her knees. He... he let me go...
A voice whispers in her mind. No. Master Valac always watches. Your freedom has passed. Now, you work for him.
Nerissa's spirits sink. She rises slowly and grabs the four Titan heads; two in each hand. The succubus plods into the forest, despair weighing heavily on her heart.
The puppetmaster lays his traps... but how many will fall into them, and what are his goals?
Nerissa doesn't have the answer.
Neither do I.
....................................................................
I reappear inside Satan. The darkness of night stretches out ghoulishly as he stands in the forest, Nerissa by his side. No other demons are around. It appears Nerissa brought him here in secret.
The Devil stares upon Nerissa's haul. "Four Titans. You killed them by yourself?"
Nerissa nods. She smiles, but it seems painfully forced.
"I... I did. I would do... anything for you, Lord Satan."
Satan's nostrils flare. "I'd be lyin' if I said I wasn't impressed. You beat that white-eyed fella, and these ladies too. Judging by the size of their noggins, they must've been... huge."
"Fifty feet tall or so, yes."
Satan nods. "Delicious."
The Devil doesn't move a muscle. Four vectors lash out at astonishing speeds and crush the heads into pulp, spraying Titan blood in every direction.
Nerissa flinches in surprise. "W-what was that? What happened?!"
Satan smirks. "It's one of my abilities. I have to crush the heads and hide the evid-"
He stops mid-sentence. Satan suddenly clutches his chest and breathes hard as a wave of nausea hits him. Mana floods his body, and he blinks away several tears of surprise.
"Nngh, shit, I wasn't ready, that time. Maybe... maybe four at once is too many."
Nerissa frowns. "Huh? What do you mean?"
"Nothing. D-don't worry... about it." Satan picks himself up and mops sweat from his forehead. "Let's just say I've been... improving myself."
Nerissa appears unconvinced. "Okay. If you say so- ah! Do you need help standing? You look woozy, Lord Satan!"
My legs give out, and Nerissa catches me. She helps me lay on the ground, but before she can pull away, I reach out and take her hand.
"Hey. Where do you think you're going? I was worried about you, doll. You left me high and dry."
Nerissa blushes. "I, ah, well... I don't know. Did you think about my request?"
"To be my girl? 'Course I did. I thought about you plenty when I looked everywhere and couldn't find you. Kept thinking it'd be a real shame if I never saw your fine ass again."
Nerissa's eyes widen. "Really?"
Satan pulls the succubus onto his stomach, allowing her to straddle him. "Damn straight. I need someone I can trust. Wouldn't hurt to have a little fun too. You've got a body to die for."
A vector snakes out behind Nerissa and touches her back. She flinches and looks around, trying to find who did it. "What the heck? Was that you?"
"I'm a demon of many talents. Having eight extra arms can come in pretty handy. I'll make you a deal, toots. You promise never to betray me, to always stand by my side, and to do as I say... and I'll take you to a place better than Heaven."
Nerissa's smile falters. She rests a hand on her stomach. "Uh... uhm... just a promise? Why not make me sign one of your... your... contracts?"
I shake my head. "Nah. You put your life on the line for me. You've already proven yourself. Just say 'yes', and we're cool."
Nerissa hesitates.
Three seconds pass. Five. Ten.
"Alright. I promise."
Satan's grin widens. "Perfect. Now that I've got you here riding me, let's move on to the fun part. I'm feeling frisky tonight."
Nerissa leans down, pressing her body against mine. "Anything for you, Lord Satan."
Satan doesn't know, but I do. Nerissa isn't who he thinks she is.
She's a puppet. Trusting her will likely prove to be his undoing.

2019.11.08 17:40 TheLoneRook I haven't played since Umbra and I am just so, so lost, plz halp

I left the game at MR14 back when we were first introduced to Cetus, as a result of my rig suddenly and unexpectedly dying on me *rip*. So I've been basically following the game from a distance for some time now and I'll be coming back to it in December but.....boy am I fkn lost. I got my Umbra and did the whole "wow spooky guy long arms omg" bit and that was the end of my career for the past....2-ish years now? Jeez, been a minute. I know the game since has undergone a LOT of change with Railjack, Kuva Lich, whatever the weird lady talking into the microphone thing is, Fortuna (or as I like to call it, Cetus but with communism). I'm just wondering if anyone has some pointers for picking back up from where I left off. I'm not a masteryfarmer and I really only have interest in frames that I enjoy playing. I know I'm going to want to get Limbo, Mesa, and Chroma still. I like the gentle palm guy too.
Just sort of wondering what all really changed, and what steps I should take to really get back up to speed? Mostly just, how tf all the new stuff even works, would be great. I know I could handpick and watch a youtube video for every single one of these things but I'd really prefer a more TL;DR version and I know the community does a great job of taking the complex nature of the game and making it approachable to dumbies like myself.
I will be throwing some plat at the game to commemorate my return, so if anyone knows of any dope new cosmetics....lemme know.
Thanks in advance!

2018.10.04 16:55 Klokinator Cryopod Refresh 106: The Soul Bridge

2018.10.03 14:50 Klokinator Cryopod Refresh 106 WIP 1

A crude stone knife nearly five-feet long rests firmly in my grasp as I shave the bark off an uprooted tree. I glance to my right and spot four Titanesses silently carving various figures and shapes into their section of the log. All four are naked, and none are particularly attractive. Their fat bodies and giant jowls give them a wild, animalistic look.
I scrape off bark, bit by bit.
This spiritual guide is for the good of our little sister. A day of work is well-worth ensuring her well-being as she travels to live with the Ancestral Spirits."
"Father claimed the Ancestral Spirits would protect him, but look what happened.
They chose Zeus as his successor. How else do you think Zeus could have overpowered our patriarch so easily?"
Kuva sneers. "With cunning, obviously. Cronus was a lazy old man. 'Tis good news that he has passed.
"Don't. The Ancestral Spirits will punish them. Have faith. Damaging a Soul Bridge is a grave insult. I suspect their days are numbered already."
I start to pull away, but pause to consider her words. "Will the Ancestors punish them, Chantis, or will they expect us to do so in their name, like Zeus did to Cronus?"
Chantis shakes her head. "Their ways are mysterious.
Her skin becomes transparent within seconds, turning her nearly invisible in the waning daylight.
"Astarte! He's trying to decapitate us!
"That's-"
She doesn't finish her sentence.
"YOU!!! How dare you kill my sister!" A sensation like lava pours across her skin. She spins on her heel and kicks her foot into the ground, pouncing at Nerissa with terrifying speed.
A quick glance to my left shows Nerissa leap into the air. She blasts ice across my back, widening the pole's base to hold me fast to the ground.
"Hahaha! You're pretty pathetic!" Nerissa lands on my back. She motions with her hands again, and another spear materializes in the air above me as she aims for my heart.
"AHA! I knew it!!" I turn my head in time to see Nerissa standing, another disc held at the ready, hovering over her palm and spinning like a top.
Nerissa's eyes jerk to the back of my neck. She flings the disc, and agonizing pain rips through my mind. My body gives out as she severs my brain's link to my body. I lose all sensation in myself and stumble forward. The ground rushes at my face.
"Selene, no!"
A voice calls out to me from the sky above. I can't reply. Another ice spear stabs through the back of my neck, bursts through the crystals hardened around my throat and rips my head from my shoulders.
As the world goes black around me, Selene's mind whispers its last, agonized thought. Sister Astarte... I will join you in the Great Beyond.
....................................................................
I'm injured. Bad shape.
She finds their decapitated bodies not long after, and soon the tiny little succubus is lugging four Titan heads behind her as she zooms through the forest, holding all of them by their hair with only one hand.
She might be as physically strong as Belial.
Satisfied that nobody is following her, Nerissa pauses after traveling for a few miles. She drops to the forest floor and releases the Titaness heads, then sags against a tree.
With the adrenaline from the fight wearing off, her body aches. Nerissa clutches a rib and winces. "B-broken. Hurts to breathe."
She closes her eyes. That giantess put up more of a fight than the others. It's lucky I found that exposed part on the back of her neck or I wouldn't have won. I'm fortunate I survived... if she had hit me any harder, she would have turned me into jelly. It hurts just thinking about the possibility.
Nerissa's breathing evens out. She pants quietly for a moment, then finally opens her eyes to stand up.
Her blood turns colder than her ice magic.
Standing before her is a massive demon wearing tattered clothes. His skinless body and face gaze at her silently, without a trace of emotion.
"As you stand here among this flora, you also stand within my soul aura. My presence has expanded to the ends of the Earth; I see all who die and all who give birth. To date, three thousand Titans I have slain, but today you amused me with the blood you let rain."
Still, for me to visit you, my goal you might deduce; I have decided that for me you have a use."
You have no choice but to help me, so you'd better come to grips. Satan's love and trust; that is what you seek. Sadly, under my employ, havoc is what you'll wreak."
Maggots crawl on Valac's bony arms. I try to pull him off, but he's too strong. Slowly, his hand crawls up my neck, then my chin, and soon he clutches my entire face.
"Mmgh!" Nerissa tries to protest, but she can't pull him off.
After a moment, I blink deliriously and realize my pain is gone.
Speak not a word, not a squeak, not a shout, and rest soundly... knowing you are my scout."
Satan nods. "Very good."
"Nngh, shit, I wasn't ready that time. Maybe... maybe four at once is too many."
Kept thinking it'd be a real shame if something happened to ya."
"Really?" Nerissa's eyes widen. "I'm on your mind?"
Satan pulls the succubus on his stomach, allowing her to straddle him. "You're on a lot more than my mind, babe.
You promise never to betray me, promise to always stand by my side, and promise to do as I say... and I'll take you to a place better than Heaven."
Nerissa's smile falters. She rests a hand on her stomach. "Uh... uhm... just a promise? Why not make me sign one of your... your... contracts?"
I shake my head. "Unnecessary. You put your life on the line for me. You've already proven yourself. Just say 'yes' and we're cool."
Nerissa hesitates.
Three seconds pass. Five. Ten.
"Alright. I promise."
Satan's grin widens. "Perfect. Now that I've got you here riding me, let's move on to the fun part. I'm feeling frisky tonight."
Nerissa leans down, pressing her body against mine. "Anything for you, Lord Satan."
Satan doesn't know, but I do. Nerissa isn't who he thinks she is.
She's a puppet. Trusting her will prove to be his undoing.

2018.07.12 15:50 ray_falkner New Tenno and wondering what Warframe should be your next? Here are some summaries of the less obvious choice.

So with how these past few days are filled with hype and attention from potential new players, and how it feels that Warframe new player counts are on a significant rise since the PoE promotion, I think it might be helpful to put a little tips for newer players on what Warframe to choose and why.
Obviously with more than 30+ Warframes to choose there got to be something that clicks for each one of us. Unfortunately for new players the slots are very limited, resources are super limited, content/startchart access are ultra limited, and stuffs like that. Many of them probably wondering of which frames should they be aiming for that are worth the grind and also fitting with their preferred playstyle.
Some new players probably also share my sentiment that playing meta/fotm usually is boring and devoid of challenge, and wondered of how viable are the non-meta choice of Warframes in general.
This summary I give here will try to cover the less-meta, underused, or underrated Warframe that people -usually- rarely see in use. Bear in mind that there are reasons why some frames are popular and seen everywhere while many others are like encountering a rare pokemon.
Note that this is not an attempt to discredit meta frames but more of a sharing of my insight on the actual viability of frames that I think are often left gathering dust in the Orbiter.
  • Nyx. Can dial down a lot of the immediate threat around the team without hindering her team ability to dispatch enemies. Get into habit to mark your Mind Controlled target if you do utilize the skill, and don't forget to release the control when your slave outlives his usefulness. Her "disarm" passive is actually triggering much more often than how it sounds on her info screen; spamming her homing bolts in general direction of distant enemy crowd is a pretty good form of preemptive CC (also due to her passive triggering off it). Nyx is paper thin but her ult allows her to tank anything that doesn't catch her by surprise while at the same time grabbing aggro from her vicinity.
  • Easy to obtain? Yes, only need to deal with boss (Phorid) drop RNG which is relatively quick and can be attempted over and over immediately. Her Prime variant is no longer in circulation and must be bought from other players. Edit: As of the time of this writing, the next Prime Unvaulting plan includes Nyx Prime.
  • Mag. Had terribly rough days on the day of her total rework but one or two revision later gives a necessary polish to make her into a quite potent room nuker and aoe hard CC frame. Both Polarize and Magnetize augment mod enhance her CC capability into a new level- highly recommended to use one of those. Mag is really surprisingly a powerful nuker as long as the target is not immune/resistant to her Magnetize (which sadly most bosses are). Magnetize combined with rapid firing/pellets non-hitscan weapons (e.g Dera, Drakgoon, Detron) will totally nuke the zone provided the Magnetize has a clear LoS on its detonation. She is paper thin with no innate active mitigation; occasionally being downed as Mag is something you have to live with.
  • Easy to obtain? Yes, only need to deal with "Warframe's easiest boss ever" drop RNG which can be attempted over and over immediately. Her Prime variant is no longer in circulation and thus must be bought from other players.
  • Titania. If you can fit a Natural Talent in her build, she will totally and absolutely shut down the whole crowd with her spammable Spellbind aoe hard CC while simultaneously expose them all into a clear LoS for you and your team to capitalize on. Even after the Spellbind expires those CC'ed crowds have to crash land, recover from the knockdown, and then skitter around helplessly trying to pick their weapon back before returning as a threat to you. Also buffs her teammate with status immunity and sparkly butterflies (fashionframe!). The teamwide Dust aura is very often a lifesaver on close quarter indoor tiles especially against Corpus, and it is absolute bonkers when further combined with her innate evasion on her Razorwing form. Titania is an excellent hybrid frame that brings buff support, CC, and respectable dps to the team while having good survivability herself due to her passive evasion.
  • Easy to obtain? Yes, only need to do "material gathering" tasks on different tilesets and planets with guaranteed reward of Titania parts for each completion of stage.
  • Hydroid. Everyone and their Japanese highschool fantasy knew about the dude's tentacular prowess. Nobody seems to realize about how slippery this dude is when properly played wet. This slimy dude shuts down 2 - 3 chokepoints easily; he's very slippery against imminent danger due to puddle form and wave form; and he'll completely strips naked anything resembling armor with the Corrosive Barrage- which of course also force them to go prone from the barrage impact, ready for the inevitable fatal penetration by tenno arts of the bed. Deathbed. Overall Hydroid is an excellent CC frame that is also near impossible for the enemy to pin down while also bringing powerful utility for his team depending on which augment mod is equipped.
  • Easy to obtain? Yes, only need to deal with boss drop RNG which can be attempted over and over immediately. Hydroid Prime is still in circulation and can be farmed as normal.
  • Nezha. Though mostly a meme material due to hehis supreme slippery slides, this gurl actually packs quite a utility for the team. AoE hard CC on ult, team status immunity on fire paths, aoe heal on chakram throws, barrier on self (and allies if augmented), and a self teleport. Nezha is way tougher than how he looks. And due to how his Warding Halo staggers melee foes, he can be near invincible against most Infested. A solid frame that can fit in a lot of team comp.
  • Easy to obtain? Yes, only need to join a Clan that already researched the blueprints of Nezha parts.
  • Harrow. A really potent aggressive support frame with linear aoe hard CC, teamwide energy restore, health restore, invincibility, and critical chance boost-- but rather higher skill ceiling than other healer frame due to the timing/rotation of his skill sets and the necessity to actually kill something (much preferably with headshots) personally to properly utilize his potential. Understandably will not compete with Trinity or Oberon due to their ease of use and how those two does not need to be actively aggressive to be able to support while Harrow need to bring himself into the fray and always be on the offensive to function as intended- which also means when Harrow is paired with uber tier mob killer such as Mesa or Saryn he is effectively deprived much off his potential. Just like many other support frame, a properly played Harrow is a thankless job and most probably won't score much of orange numbers in mission summary screen. Do try to have a good score for headshots as Harrow though, it will improves your potency whether you realize it or not.
  • Easy to obtain? No, since for one of the part you have to deal with horrendous RNG of Rotation C from Defection mission which is one of the most hated mission type; and for another part you have to learn how to do Spy mission on Kuva tileset and you have to succeed at all three of those Spy vaults for a chance of a drop.
  • Ash. Mercilessly kicked to plummet from high cliff after the bladestorm brutal nerf but in perspective allows some player to take closer look on viability of his other kit-- which are actually not half bad. Smoke Shadow augment allow him to be a very potent bodyguard for VIPs- either NPCs or fragile frame in group; Teleport allows him to exploit the powerful melee takedown mechanics against target susceptible to it. The Shuriken is decidedly lackluster but the forced slash proc can be combined with one or two tricks such as with the Hunter set mods or as another tier of multiplier for Condition Overload. Oh and despite what many peeps say, post-nerf Bladestorm is still a potent crowd killer especially against high level grineer when your team comp lack ways to deal with armor scaling. Overall still is the most prominent assassination/Ninja frame thematically, with equally badass pose, animation, and killing power.
  • Easy to obtain? No for his normal variant, Yes for his Prime variant. The Prime variant is no longer in circulation thus must be purchased from other players, while the regular variant is a random drop from a rare grineer enemy, the Manics. Go for the Prime if you're interested in Ash, less headache and much less stress that way.
  • Volt. Another prominent meme frame due to his ridiculous speed multiplier, but seems like only few realize that he is a very capable frame on his own especially for static defense objective/strategy. Infinite health barrier screen to block all kinds of hostile fire- which by the way also increases the critical potency of allied shots that goes through it; on demand hard CC with his lightning bolt that briefly exposes the head hitbox of humanoids; and wide area hard CC ult that after the latest revision actually racks some kills against soft targets. Volt is a fragile frame and should make sure that none of the foes slip through his defenses.
  • Easy to obtain? Yes, only need to join a Clan that already researched Volt parts blueprints. His Prime variant is no longer in circulation and must be bought from other players.
  • Khora. Bit drenched in vitriol due to the horrendous RNG chance, the utter chore, and mostly unrewarding grind needed to obtain her and the fact that her kit is changed significantly from her development showcase. If you're one of the lucky who managed to build her within reasonable grinding effort you'll be rewarded with a potent hybrid dps/CC frame that does not overwhelm and steal the whole show from other teammates- unlike the selfish egocentric Mesa/Saryn/pre-nerf EmbeEquinox. Moving on-- Whiplash with serviceable strength, proper mods, and combo multiplier deals severe AoE damage on crits; Khora can also be reasonably tanky due to Venari the cat keeps Khora in good shape through sustained damage by utilizing the cat's regen stance; and Khora's #2 and #4 is a potent hard CC on their own although balancing her build between the necessary strength and optimal CC radius is kinda tricky. Overall a solid combat frame with good supplemental CC capabilities.
  • Easy to obtain? NO with capital N and O; if you're lucky you'll get her within reasonable amount of attempts but doesn't change the fact that the mission that drops her parts: Sanctuary Onslaught is a chore (and quite difficult for newer players) and the reward is petty since you need to do the normal difficulty for it instead of the Elite difficulty, and you need to go to the Rotation C for a chance for her Systems blueprint.
  • Atlas. The bacon abs flaps guy will be a little more popular if only he is not walled off behind a dead content which is Archwing. Not to mention the totally horrendous RNG drops needed from an equally horrendously designed mini boss which is juggernaut. The reward for those who persevere through those major obstacles is a brutal warframe armed with ridiculously powerful Landslide punch, aoe hard CC, and triple tectonic walls. Seriously, if Atlas is as easy to obtain as the basic frames such as mag / loki / rhino, I believe he'll be seeing much more usage at least among newer players; due to how ridiculously easy it is to brute force through most contents (even sorties) just with Landslide alone. As long as there is a valid target within range for Landslide, Atlas couldn't care less about things the enemy throw at him, he'll tank all of it like it was nothing. Atlas is a truly monstrous frontline bruiser that smashes through crowds like a wrecking ball.
  • Easy to obtain? No Since the Juggernaut RNG drop is super terrible, but if you manage to pass through that first stage of obstacle then you'll just have to find someone with fully pimped-up Archwing loadout helping you with the Archwing stage; NO with capital N and O if you're starting from zero all by yourself. Save yourself some sanity and ask around for help at least with the Archwing stage.
  • Banshee. Once probably notoriously known as the fun killer along with the likes of pre-nerf Ember, pre-nerf Ash, Equinox, etc due to how easily Banshee claims / locks down an entire zone by herself and basically at that point the game just play by itself no challenge whatsoever. Thankfully some later revision reworked her into a more active playstyle. Doesn't help much with her popularity though, and paired with how seriously fragile she is, Banshee still is an under appreciated frame and difficult to play without some investment in learning the ins and outs of her quirks. If you do however, you're rewarded with a highly potent support frame with one of the most ridiculously powerful stacking damage amplification debuff in the game- which also provides a wide radar scan, then her first ability for an instantaneous cone aoe hard CC that can further augmented to shred away armor, and another ability for a wide aoe deafness debuff that not only stuns and shrinks the enemy awareness to their view cone only, but also can be combined with other gameplay mechanics to perform skillful tricks such as forcing melee takedown, or pretty much making all your teammate weapons considered as silenced- along with all benefits that come with it. With Banshee in your team, there is no such thing as weakpoints; every point is a weakpoint if Banshee hit it hard enough (with her Sonar).
  • Easy to obtain? Yes, she's waiting for you in Clan lab once researched. Her Prime variant is still in circulation and can be farmed normally.
  • Vauban. Most probably fall into underused category rather than underrated due to how difficult (and/or expensive) it is to obtain both his normal and Prime variant. The reward for such high cost of resource (and luck) is the game most premier CC frame supreme. You... do not need other CC frame in your team, ever, if there's a single Vauban there. Period. Nothing else truly comes close in terms of hard CC capability of Vauban. The team can go all out with reckless abandon because when a Vauban spreads out his whole arsenal of CC nothing will be standing and be a threat unless he allows them to. The (other) price you pay for such heavy focus in CC unfortunately comes with literally no other team utilities brought forth by this frame. No buffs, no heal, no energy restores, nothing. Just pure straight CC all day long. Still with how potent Vauban is, it is absolutely worthwhile to include him in your long term planning of resource allocation and budgeting.
  • Easy to obtain? NO with capital N and O for the Prime Variant, NNNOOO with triple capital N and O for the regular variant. The Prime variant is no longer in circulation and all of his parts are rare drops which push his price way up, and even then after you trade for his parts you're going to balk and stare at disbelief at the resource requirement to build him. Vauban regular variant is a much, much, MUCH more sane in resource requirement but the randomness of the Alert mission that rewards his parts is the bane of all human entity that does not sit in front of his computer 24/7. Save yourself some sanity and save up a lot to go straight for his Prime variant instead.
  • Ivara. Like Vauban, probably more of an underused than underrated due to difficulty of obtaining her parts. If you do persevere through the spy runs needed you're rewarded with probably the closest to borderline broken support frame in the game. Her highlight includes: self invisibility toggle, temporary invisibility on allies, on demand ziplines, spammable aoe hard CC that exposes the victims to finisher damage (which includes melee takedown), pickpocket for extra loot roll, and the boss-killing power of her exalted Artemis Bow. The fact that Ivara herself is pretty much cloaked all the time (thus should be safe from most harm), has spammable hard CC, and powerful exalted ranged weapon makes it almost trivial to finish through whatever challenge given to her. Her weaknesses include nonexistent bulk which means she dies as soon as something remotely harmful bumps on her, her inability to use non-silenced guns without breaking the cloak, and her massive penalty to speed when cloaked which necessitates different kind of maneuver to comfortably travel through the mission (since bullet jumping and sliding breaks her cloak). You could say that Ivara dependencies on her invisibility is her one true major weakness; A revealed Ivara is a frog falling into a wok of boiling oil.
  • Easy to obtain? No, but the mission type that drops Ivara parts which is Spy mission is quick and easy enough to attempt over and over again once you're familiar with it and memorized the layout. The RNG to get her parts is cruel but on the more positive side Spy mission gives you some of the essential mods that you will use throughout the game.
  • Zephyr. The game's premier air superiority frame is rather badass in concept yet so... restrained and watered down in her current incarnation. Being completely honest here, Zephyr is the hardest frame to recommend to new player. The introduction of Plains of Eidolon change that a bit; She really, REALLY shines in Plains of Eidolon where her superior aerial mobility can be used to its full extent, and utilized to properly to living the role as a murderous bird of prey, diving down from above toward unsuspecting morsel, then taking off again to the sky with no hope for the enemy to ever getting a clear shot due to her wind barrier and aerial agility. Really grim day for the enemies to have a Zephyr preying upon them on wide open fields. But that's it for Zephyr. For anything other than PoE she's a one dimensional frame that is utilized only for her Turbulence barrier, a pretty much self-only buff that allows her to deflect incoming bullets while you attack with whatever weapon you bring. Take note that Zephyr with Turbulence up is very hard to kill with bullets, but she's still paper thin against things that pierces or are unaffected by the wind barrier: melee attacks and hostile aoe. A deflected bombard rocket is still a death sentence for her if it is redirected into nearby wall instead. Her ult is a hard CC which could be utilized to buy her team some time when things starting to go south-- but it's not something that you purposely use because the nature of the Tornado makes it as much as a hindrance to your team as it is to her foes. Her Airburst AoE knockback is serviceable but as it is a rather slow moving projectile it has questionable practical use outside close-medium range. In her current state Zephyr is only recommended if you're going straight and invest heavily into Plains of Eidolon-- or for some reason really want something that can trivialize the Corpus non-hitscan guns.
  • Easy to obtain? Yes, she's waiting for you in the Clan lab if researched. The Prime variant is still in circulation and can be farmed as normal.
  • Gara. Our glassy samurai lady has a rather annoying barrier of entry due to locked behind increasingly difficult PoE bounties RNG. The nerf to her ult does not help with her popularity at all- which is unfortunate since Gara has a heavily damaging first ability, and one of the best active damage mitigation buff in the game which also provides a short range aura with infinite scaling damage ticks to any hostiles entering the radius. Also her "blinding" passive actually trigger much more often than how it sounds on her info sheet. The fact that her superior damage mitigation buff can also be given to allies is a major boon of which when paired with a healer in the team nearly ensures that even the most fragile of frame of your group will not die unless he foolishly bumps into Nullifer or such. Sadly the brutal nerf to her ult takes a big chunk out of Gara's viability as an area defender, turning the Mass Vitrify to function pretty much only as a delayed wide area debuff instead. Her spinning mirror decoys -while functional and do attract aggro from foes- does not even last a couple of seconds in endgame condition; they are destroyed within seconds from firepower of high level foes. Overall she is a solid frontline melee fighter with excellent survivability and killing power due to combination of her first and second abilities, and her Glint passive.
  • Easy to obtain? No, since Plains of Eidolon grineers for one reason or another is a step up in difficulty from the regular starchart despite the seemingly low enemy level. Newer players will not be tackling PoE bounties as if it's a walk in the park, and the higher level bounties that drops the final Gara part can be downright brutal for newbies. The RNG that rolls the Gara part itself is not that bad when compared to, let's say Nidus or Khora.

2018.06.13 17:56 Lasha230 Why do you lose THE ENTIRE GAME if you DRAW on the FIRST ROUND of The Index? (RANT)

Started The Glast Gambit today and I've got to say quest quality has completely dropped off at this point.
Relatively new player here, and credits are something REALLY valuable for me. There is not a single moment where I have more than 50.000 credits because I craft things all the time, and finding this gamemode where you can wager money for an easy net profit seemed great...at first.
Apart from how tedious it is since you have to wait another 4:59 for a 40-0 round, you have to do it 4 TIMES IN A QUEST!? 45:00 of doing nothing!? (Again, very common lately. To add insult to injury...I did this quest after grinding for Octavia...for 2 days, but that's irrelevant (RIGHT?), only to find out you need Kuva for one of the parts and Oxium for the other, too bad huh? MR6 BTW).
So I did it 3 times and on the fourth time (for the love of god why) rules change...and you are not allowed to win too much. Reminder that this was my first time ever doing this quest, and I quickly scored 4 points, and seeing how nobody ever scores on the gamemode I just kept going around killing till 4 minutes pass so I can do it all over again 2 more times for whatever reason. AND ON THE LAST 15 SECONDS...someone from the enemy team (that I miraculously missed) scored 4 points. At this point I couldn't even react...20+ points on me, so I said fine to a draw...AND THEN I LOST OF COURSE BECAUSE DIGITAL EXTREMES LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!
In what universe does this make sense? Isn't this a first to 3!? When I heard the announcer go "Draws go to the house" I thought that I lose a round maybe (still bullshit but I've had worse)...you lose not only the entire game (???) but also the 160.000 credits that you dind't even have when you started the quest due to stakes raised per run...so now you have to grind for 160.000 instead of 100.000. All the grind I've done so far in any game I've ever played can't compare to how insulting this is...this is one of the biggest FUs in videogame history...
Couldn't this be a best of 3!? Couldn't this be Ergo Glast™️ funded? Couldn't this be a 2 runs only!? Couldn't this be score goal instead of time based!? Couldn't this be a non-insulting quest!?
It literally killed any amount of will I had to play this game, because as a bonus...I found out that you have to later grind for Nidus...like, Octavia level grind. Any self-respecting human being won't play this game after this quest

Beasts of the Sanctuary: Update 22.20.0 is coming in 5 minutes. Three words that either awaken fear or arousal: we touched Saryn. We've revisited her, again. She's the one frame you just can't help but come back to. A kind of gal that gets what she wants - a revisit. Read the update notes, try it in action, and be sure to leave your well-reasoned feedback exactly 1 minute after this deploys. That makes sense. Beasts of the Sanctuary: Update 22.20.0 is coming in 4 minutes. With the introduction of 'build your own Obstacle Course' this Update, it's time to separate the strong from the weak. Those with a knack for engineering, and those with a desire to cover the floor with 100 kill-traps and send their clanmates to an early grave. Beasts of the Sanctuary: Update 22.20.0 is coming in 1 minute. I'm going to pick a random line from the 17 pages of Update notes for this part. Fixed Ospreys leaving behind their exhaust FX when killed. I guess I could make a 'lingering fart' joke here, but that's a coming Peculiar Mod. Beasts of the Sanctuary: Update 22.20.0 is deploying now, remain in your missions until this is complete. Beasts of the Sanctuary: Update 22.20.0 has been deployed. Spores Inflicts target with a pox of Corrosive spores. Spread spores to nearby enemies by destroying them or killing their host. Trigger the ability again to detonate active spores. Additionally:
  • Increased Status Chance from 10% to 50% (scales with Ability Strength).
  • A meter in the bottom right corner of your screen will show the number of affected enemies and how much damage is being dealt per tick to said enemies.
  • Recasting Spores detonates all active Spores and will deal 2x the damage on an inflicted enemy based on the number of active Spores and the current damage per tick.
  • Venom Dose Augment: Spores cast on allies temporarily grant them additional Corrosive damage to all attacks.
Molt Shedding her skin like a snake, Saryn leaves a decoy behind to draw fire from enemies. Additionally:
  • After casting, Saryn receives a momentary speed boost for a short duration.
  • Molt now scales similar to Rhino’s Iron Skin - All the initial damage it takes in the first 3 seconds will make it stronger. Any damage it receives after that point will target the absorbed health.**Damage absorbed is shown in a buff indicator at the top of the screen.
*Once all absorbed damage has dispensed, Molt explodes dealing Toxin damage to nearby enemies.
Toxic Lash While active, attacks deal additional Toxin damage; this effect is doubled for melee strikes. Instantly burst spores when attacking afflicted enemies. Additionally:
  • Increased Duration from 30 seconds to 45 seconds.
  • Toxin Lash no longer grants 2 Energy restore when bursting Spores - With the new spreading nature of Spores, survivability of Molt, and the increased duration of Toxic Lash and Miasma, Saryn is not as Energy hungry as she was before!
  • Contagion Cloud Augment:Kills with Toxic Lash leaves behind a Toxin cloud and Melee killsdoublethe damage dealt by the cloud.
Miasma Release a poisonous miasma that deals Viral damage to enemies in range. Foes afflicted by spores are more susceptible to the mist. Additionally:
  • Now has a 100% guaranteed Viral Status Effect on damage tick.
  • Increased range from 15 meters to 20 meters (at max rank).
  • Increased duration from 3 to 5 seconds.
  • Miasma inflicts double damage on targets affected by Spores.
  • When recasting on the same enemy it will refresh the tick duration and maintain the Viral Status Effect, but will not stun enemies a second time until the Status Effect ticks have subsided.
General Changes to Saryn:
  • Increased Saryn’s Armor from 175 to 225 (at rank 30)
  • Increased Saryn Prime’s Armor from 225 to 300 (at rank 30)
  • Made some minor FX updates to Saryn’s abilities!Spores received a slight improvement to the FX.
Reduced the brightness of Miasma. Improved FX to make her Molt cast more pronounced.
  • Spores have been optimized and will be much nicer to your CPU!
  • Saryn is also coming with a whole new set of sounds voiced by [DE]Danielle!!
  • Added Abilities screen stats for Saryn Molt speed buff & duration.
We hope you enjoy experimenting with her changes. We will be watching closely for your first impressions. Scrambus/Comba Changes: The Corpus are crafty and have found ways to combat the awesome abilities of Warframes. Their tactics help diversify gameplay, but the ability to counterplay is key. We made some tweaks in the past to Nullifiers with counterplay in mind, and now we’ve set our sights (or tried to at least) on the invisible auras of the Scrambus and Comba.
If you watched Devstream 110, you might already be familiar with our plans to change the Scrambus and Comba. Players can now engage in more cerebral combat with these enemies, using visual cues to take them down:
  • Their Nullify aura has been replaced with a power that they can activate in combat. Upon use, it creates an expanding sphere that nuffilies players’ powers, and disrupts them for 2.5 seconds.
  • Similar to the way shooting the Nullifier bubble or weak point can interrupt or prevent the aura from spreading, shooting off Scrambus/Comba’s helmet (or killing them) will negate the sphere:
Dargyn Changes: While stealing Dargyns from unsuspecting Grineer is all fun and games, sometimes the Dargyn you want to commandeer isn’t on the ground—sometimes it’s manned in the sky and is shooting at you.
With today’s update, you are now able to acquire an active Dargyn in the following ways:
  • Shoot the Pilot, causing the Dargyn to float gracefully to the ground for you to board:
  • Use Loki’s Switch Teleport on the Pilot, leaving him grounded and confused:
  • Use a finisher from behind while using Archwing, allowing you to transition from Archwing to Dargyn:
In addition to this new mechanic, we have also made the following changes:
  • Increased mounted Dargyn projectile damage from 250 to 450 and increased the clip size from 50 to 75.
  • Increased the spawn frequency of Dargyn patrol and idle Dargyn encounters when roaming the Plains.
Spear Fishing HUD Changes: We’ve added a sofishticated new HUD to aid in your aquatic hunt for brains, bones, and delicious spleen! Selecting a Spear in your Gear wheel will open the Fishing HUD where you can switch between Spear, Dye, and Bait on the fly.
Grineer Shipyards Defence Layout/Flow Changes:
  • Improved Defense Target navigation by shifting the path towards the center of level.
  • Built additional buildings around the Defense Target path at both Defense locations.
  • Added additional enemy spawn locations for each Defense location, giving AI more of 360 degree attack option.
  • Adjusted Turrets within the level.
  • Added additional cover and attack routes for AI.
  • The rail upon which the Defense Tram travels on is now electrified!
  • Moved hack panels to easier-to-find places in certain Grineer Shipyard tilesets. Hopefully you won’t get caught in a lockdown, but if you do, it should be faster to find a panel!
Image Imgur rehost soonTM New Equinox Alternate Helmet: EQUINOX CLISTHERT HELMET - When they are night you are day. When they are light, you are the all-encompassing dark. A demon helm befitting a Warframe of savage duality.
General Additions:
  • Added a new Growing Peculiar Mod to Onslaught rewards! Damage causes this enemy to inflate!
  • The Operator screen now displays a new opening UI! Switch between Equipment, Focus, and Appearance.
  • New percussion-driven music has been added to the Star Chart and loading screens.
  • Real-time audio mixing is now handled by our new RTPC (Real-Time Parameter Control) system, which allows greater precision and control of the game-wide mix:Real-time audio mixing is now decoupled from music, so players who don’t want to play with music benefit from the new RTPC system.
Player speed will now adjust footstep/sliding volume. Bullet sound volume when the local player is being hit by enemies is now based on Shields/Health. The RTPC system also allows cleaner and more focused music during heavy combat Starchat music will now be affected by the Music slider and not the SFX slider
  • Added a North indicator to both the Plains of Eidolon minimap and Advanced Map. Cetus is due South, so players need only walk in the opposite direction of this marking to head home for an early lunch!
  • Added a ‘Show Ability Banner on Cast’ toggle to the Interface Options menu! This is off by default on PC. Console players already have these banners appear automatically, but they will have the option to turn them off once this change goes live on Xbox One and PS4!
  • Added the ability to replay the Once Awake quest !
  • Added the repurposed Kuva Defense tile used in Kuva Survival Missions to other Fortress missions.
  • Objects that attract weapon-fire, like Mag’s Magnetize ability, now do so in a more logical way:
  • Added a 'CLAIM ALL' button to the Foundry that appears when you have more than 1 item ready to Claim.
  • Weekly Leaderboards will now show a reset timer!
Captura Changes & Fixes: To ease the tedious ritual of creating your cinematic masterpieces and Hydroid Prime trailers, we’ve added a new Camera Edit UI to the Advanced Mode settings!
  • We now show you what camera is being highlighted in Advanced Mode.
  • Added tool-tips to help you know what's going on with the settings!
  • Captura, Text, now, supports, commas,!
  • Improved speed multiplier controls for controllers.
  • Fixed 'Cinematic Mode' button not re-appearing when swapping settings.

Khora Changes & Fixes:
The improvements to Khora keep on coming! We have a number of important fixes that really help with making Khora play better, as well as some changes!
Changes include:
  • Increased the range of Ensnare.
  • Removed the Line of Sight check from Ensnare to make it more reliable.
  • Range Mods now affect Whipclaw's AoE radius, but it is capped.
  • Khora's Whipclaw can now damage decorations (crates, barrels, etc).
  • Khora's Kavat now teleports to a given target instead of pathing there if the target is too far away!
  • Changed Khora’s Venari animations from domestic Kavat to Feral Kavat.
  • Adjusted a number of Syandanas to fit Khora better.
  • Tweaked Venari command sounds.

2017.11.22 21:18 Xenotechie Research report: Harrow

Previous story Archive
Some text not showing up properly? Check the version on Archive Of Our Own! It's supposed to be small caps, but some devices do not support those characters. I think it's a font issue, so, if you are on Windows, check this for a potential fix.
Long day, my diary. Oh, how I longed for your sweet, low hum, so that I can tell you my woes.
Wait, did I seriously just say that? Ugh. Last time I got that florid was when I was begging the Tenno for my life during my leadership of the Active Research Team. Is florid even a word? Oh, I don't know, I'm too tired for proper grammar.
So, dear diary, do you know how this lovely day started? Oh, of course you do, you're running double duty as my alarm clock. Not that you would know how horrible sleeping for four hours is. It is my understanding military-grade voice recorders don't do much sleeping on account of not being alive.
It was not the first time I had so little sleep. Viver often had me running twenty hour shifts after the Infested got aggressive, and back in the bad old days on Neptune, I'd have been lucky to get one full cycle's rest in a week. For all the horrors over at the indoctrination temples, though, they never threw an elite Grineer warbeast at me. Those sociopaths only wanted me mentally dead. Important distinction.
I could still feel every hit from that thing when I woke up. I still do, actually. Rosidea gave me some sort of a medical gel shot for the battle damage, and it isn't working fast enough. Nevermind, I'm getting ahead of myself.
So, what have I been up to today? Two Warframe analy... ana... analyses, yes, that's the plural. Oh, it started off innocently enough. Just a Mirage that got herself warcrimed, courtesy of some angry Grineer Kavat ladies with firestarters. All nice and simple, until Selva burst in with one of Maple's Warframes. In doing this, she inexplicably went through four separate security rings on the Relay, designed to stop this exact thing from happening. All that, so she could bring in a fried 'frame and proceed to drop on the floor like a prodman's Moa.
Better her than me, right? I should be glad I didn't go through any of that, but losing a valuable bodyguard to aggravated lung damage and dumb vengeance... oh, I don't know, it just... it wasn't a good idea, okay? I want to survive, and that wasn't a good thing for survival. That's the end of it.
I dragged her to a trustworthy doc before the lab rats started poking around her helmet, and then ran back to make sure they didn't start using repair biomatter as sandwich meat. It wouldn't be the dumbest idea I've had to put down in my time.
Fortunately, they were otherwise preoccupied. In all this time, I didn't really think Cordylon was capable of emotion, yet there he was, a projection of him ranting about exceptionally problematic Tenno... Maple, I know you're listening to this. As it turns out, frying your Warframe through questionable experiments is not even close to some of the stuff your friends do. A pair of you apparently tried to stuff their Cephalon into a Limbo. Cordylon was very vocal about that particular incident. It took us a while to get him to stop ranting and give us the data we needed.
After my work for the day was done, I quickly checked up on Selva, and then decided to get a long-standing matter finally done with: I wanted to pay a visit to Teshin.
Orokin-era soldiers don't just magically show up when a pathetic boxhead mentally breaks down. He was up to something, and I wasn't about to be kept in the shadow of that ludicrous mushroom-hat if I could help it. Unfortunately, crazies, an assassin, and other distractions all kept me from asking questions. Until today.
If only asking these questions didn't mean walking to the Tenno area of Larunda.
Look, I understand the Tenno are not going to try to kill me. I understand that they couldn't even use their weapons if they wanted to. However, there are certain reflexes at play here. The Tenno are used to shoot everything with a uniform like mine, and I am used to run from anything that doesn't. Often, these reflexes take over. The way Warframe heads can suddenly jerk and start tracking me triggers all the wrong parts of my brain. Don't get me wrong, they get used to me after a while, just as I get used to them, but those eyeless stares freak me out.
An exceedingly brisk walk and a couple of elevators took me where I needed to be. Teshin's little corner of the Relay was quite unlike its environment. In defiance of proper, economic station design, he somehow managed to create a mountainscape relief, constrained to a single room, complete with snow and growing plants. Somehow, I get the feeling greysuits doing maintenance work really hate his guts. Still, it made an impression.
Teshin himself stood upon the top of a small, natural looking hill, because of course he did. Actual stone, too, I checked. Truly, a man from a different time. During my Void energy studies, I managed to get Station Accounting on my ass for the gross crime of putting up a picture in my hab block. I'm still sore about... oh, nevermind. I walked up to Teshin, and, before I managed to say anything, he spoke to me.
-Wᴀʀʀɪᴏʀ. Yᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ʙᴇᴇɴ ᴇxᴘᴇᴄᴛᴇᴅ.
He knew a lot things, but, frankly, someone who doesn't know a lot of things at that age is just being lazy. Fortunately, this meant I was in my element; I have had a lot of experience in being the clueless idiot boxhead. This was time to put on my best Warframe face and let on as little as possible.
-I have been?
-Tʜᴇ ᴡɪsᴇ ᴍᴀɴ sᴇᴇᴋs ᴛᴏ ʟᴇᴀʀɴ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ʜᴇ ᴅᴏᴇs ɴᴏᴛ ᴜɴᴅᴇʀsᴛᴀɴᴅ. Tʜᴇ ꜰᴏᴏʟɪsʜ ᴍᴀɴ ʟᴇᴀʀɴs ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ʜᴇ ᴅᴏᴇs ɴᴏᴛ ᴜɴᴅᴇʀsᴛᴀɴᴅ sᴇᴇᴋs ʜɪᴍ ʀᴇɢᴀʀᴅʟᴇss. Yᴏᴜ ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅ sᴇᴇᴋ ᴋɴᴏᴡʟᴇᴅɢᴇ, ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ꜰᴀᴄᴛ ᴡᴀs ᴋɴᴏᴡɴ ᴛᴏ ᴍᴇ. Tʜɪs ɪs ᴡʜʏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴇʀᴇ ᴇxᴘᴇᴄᴛᴇᴅ, ᴀʀᴄʜɪᴠɪsᴛ.
Teshin has an oddly calming presence to him. I believe it's something about the voice. Whatever it was, it somehow managed to pull me out of a mental black hole almost single-handedly back on the mountain. I still find it odd how I went from crippling despair to sombre acceptance back then, but... It's not okay. It still hurts to think about Viridin, and the guilt will never go away. Surely, there was another way... never mind. Somehow, it no longer cripples me.
I didn't come to Teshin to ask "how". Dwelling on my past never really helped. It is a dark and scary place, and my Dera is a horrible flashlight. No, I came to ask...
-Why were you on that mountain?
-I ᴡɪʟʟ ɴᴏᴛ ʟɪᴇ ᴛᴏ ʏᴏᴜ, ᴜɴʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ꜰᴀʟsᴇ ᴍᴏᴛʜᴇʀ. I ʜᴀᴠᴇ ʙᴇᴇɴ ᴛʀᴀᴄᴋɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴍᴏᴠᴇᴍᴇɴᴛs ᴇᴠᴇʀ sɪɴᴄᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴅ ᴀʀʀɪᴠᴇᴅ ʜᴇʀᴇ. Yᴏᴜ ᴄᴏɴɴᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ ᴡɪᴛʜ Oᴘᴇʀᴀᴛᴏʀ Mᴀᴘʟᴇ ʟᴇᴅ ᴍᴇ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ. Well, then.
Maple, please understand that one stalk— err, guardian from the Orokin era is enough for everyone. I know your reasons, but what were his? This called for the time-tested, and marginally honest, humble hero approach.
-I do not understand, Teshin. Why would you track a mere scientist like me, when all these Tenno are surely better warriors than I am?

With those words, he disappeared. I do mean that quite literally. One moment he was in front of me, and the next moment, he wasn't. Probably a damn holo-trick...
I have an issue, dear diary-slash-recorder. You have played back a lot of old Orokin voice logs for me. You know how they spoke. Now that I have properly spoken to a genuine Orokin-era individual, I have to ask: how in the name of the bleeding hive-ships orbiting Eris have they not figured out a way not to speak in riddles yet? Come on, you extinct, insolent bastards, is it really that difficult to make sense? How did you even get any science done when you'd call a simple, Void-taken beaker as a... oh, I don't know, "receptacle to Earth's blood?"
No wonder the Tenno murdered the lot of them. When one side tells their soldiers to "relinquish the traitors from the bonds of life as we know it," and the other says "kill them golden blokes," you don't have to be a Tech-Director to know which side wins.
So, the story. It was good, and I know my answer. The farmer was just this guy, you know? He gets a dragon on his ass, does what he can about it, and suddenly, everyone's calling him a hero. Now, if he's smart, he used this reputation to get... what would a farmer want? A bigger farm? Never mind.
Point is, Teshin could go straight to the Void with his guidance. Sure, on the off chance it was some combat training, it could have been very useful, but I knew how my life went. Every time I'd do something like this, I'd somehow end up getting chased by some horrible abomination only to get miraculously saved by Maple or Selva. One day, there will be no Tenno to save me, so I was not keen on pushing my luck.
So, what was my plan? I'd do something important for Selva, eat some proper food, and then get some well-deserved sleep after a hard day of work. I have had cordial relations with the people over at New Loka, and decided to go to one of their restaurants for a nice, calm meal.
In retrospect, going to a place named "The Seed" was not one of my brightest decisions.
...I'm just running on adrenaline at this point, and I still have about... ten centimeters of paperwork to go through. Selva, where are you when I need you? I'll cut this log short. Kaiathas, out.
...oh come on, another Warframe? Screw that, the Red Veil guy can do this one. I wonder how much purple prose will he torture people with? Kaiathas, properly out.
Tenno, allies, hello. Mr. Kahn has been prevented from writing this report due to extenuating circumstances including injury, exhaustion, and what I assume are inhuman amounts of paperwork related to his injury and exhaustion. The latter would not be a problem, were it not for the injury and exhaustion of his secretary/bodyguard.
My name is Egar Costatvik, and I will be your Warframe analyst today. I do hope I can match Mr. Kahn's own work. The fact that my failure at this task is practically inevitable is something I will just have to ignore. Nonetheless, I believe the boss man picked me for this job with a good reason, and that reason is that today's Warframe is Harrow.
Harrow is a Warframe dear to Red Veil, and the prototype model was under our care until quite recently. Before my transfer to this post, I had worked as a maintenance worker for it. Through years of periodic rituals of repair performed upon the Warframe, I had obtained the knowledge that will now allow me to horribly bore you with the facts of its construction. This job had also given me a robust sense of humour, because no one sane can perform some of the rituals Red Veil demanded of us without making a joke out of them. Well, not immediately. You generally waited until you finally got to the local bar, watering hole, or secret booze stash, depending on your drinking preferences.
Our lab's particular Harrow, sadly, didn't have any spectacular tale of equipment failure attached to his state. In a rather dull turn of events, he just took an ill-placed bullet from a Grineer Ogma during an archwing mission. This bullet entered through one of the eye-things, absolutely failed to ricochet at an amusing angle, and embedded itself within a major Transference node, which had the effect of safely disconnecting the Warframe's operator. What followed was a lack of explosions, dangerous Void Energy discharges, or much of anything, for that matter, except the operator getting a very mild headache. This still completely bricked the poor guy, so we had an excuse to cut him open and poke around his insides in the interests of non-Cephalon science.
For the syndicate guys... do you seriously not know how Harrow looks like? If you somehow missed that briefing, imagine a tall man with bug eyes and robes who sometimes swishes around a smoking lantern made of energy. Once you have let your imagination do the work, minimise this report and look up a picture of the guy, because you damn should have access to one if you're able to read this. The boss also told you strategies for the various Warframes. However, seeing as I haven't killed fifty Moas with nothing but a Prova, I can't contribute much here but telling you to stick close to Harrow and let him do most of the work. I am not encouraging laziness, I am just telling you not to get in his way.
So, Harrow. Most people who just started their maintenance work back at Red Veil found that chopping him up was pretty annoying. Of course, with experience came wisdom, and, given a couple of years, they'd realise the truth: chopping him up is such a major pain in the ass you'd rather get literal colon cancer than be the guy with the laser cutter.
The Orokin, being the crazed, corrupt bastards that they were, decided that Harrow's basic construction should be made from hyper-compressed ferrite and reinforced alloy plating. Atomic hypercompression was a bleeding edge technology even at the peak of the Empire, and increased the Warframe's combat effectiveness by exactly diddly squat. All it meant for me is that the prototype Harrow required inhumanly expensive replacement parts, backed with a Zephyr's worth of Oxium just to make them portable by unaugmented humans. When these replacement parts happen to be the part of a holy artefact, you might see where the problems start.
Overengineering, I hear you say? Well, you're probably right. Some of my older colleagues said the atomic structure helps with Transference, but I cannot confirm this myself. If you are a high ranking Red Veil operative, refer to our own files on Harrow. That's all I can say without pissing off Big Red. You'll know who I mean.
The internals, thankfully, aren't quite as bad. We never had to go deep under the chassis during my time, but I did have some declassified documentation available to help us. Harrow's biological components are nothing unusual, barring some Kuva reinforcement for improved Transference connectivity. The real Orokin dookie is in the shielding systems: they are powerful, with potential for some heavy overclocking. Bit of a problem though. See that word there? Overclocking?
Anyone who tried to mess around with a modular computer knows that they can make for a great grill. You'll need one, too, since you'll inevitably go hungry trying to get it to work properly. Harrow's shield systems produce a lot of heat once fully engaged, and it takes a lot of Cryotic to make the whole system work reliably. I am surprised the Archimedians didn't dump the excess heat off to a melee weapon or something, but what do I know? Well, except that they got themselves murdered?
I also know how Harrow's abilities work. Let's start with the simple one.
  • Condemn sends out a wave of energy that freezes enemies in place, charging Harrow's shields for every enemy hit. It's a pretty complex mechanism, even if it was accomplished just by shamelessly stealing one of Limbo's many ability subsystems. At the time the lab did a Limbo analysis, this subsystem wasn't in active use, but Mr. Kahn had the foresight to write up a couple of notes on it. Apparently, it creates a mild self-sustaining temporal freeze. After the initial ability cast, it uses, and I quote here, "potential temporal energy" of its victims to keep up the effect. Harrow's configuration of this subsystem sacrifices area of effect and sends the excess temporal energy into his shield systems. There are also some chains involved, but they are just holo-projections. It's a late Orokin design, readers. They wouldn't use a Void-damned lever if it wasn't gilded.
  • Did you ever think destroying your own shields would be a good idea? The Orokin did, and designed Penance to do so. A catalysing energy surge allows for a nuclear fission analogue to occur in Harrow's shield batteries. The resulting reaction completely drains them, and the newly freed energy is channeled by the ability subsystem into Harrow's weaponry. Assuming the Harrow wasn't shot to pieces while doing this, his gear is now extra killy, and he also gains a cell-wide lifesteal effect. Unusually for lifesteal systems, no matter-devouring nanobots are used; rather, constructs formed out of pure Void energy are created by Harrow's weapons. These constructs are special in that they do the exact same thing you'd expect from matter-devouring nanobots, but look shinier while doing it. By the Lidless Eye, Orokin, you should have just ripped off Inaros on this one.
  • Good thing they didn't use the not-nanobots on just one ability. In what is seeming to be a rare case of reasonable design, Thurible allows Harrow to channel his Void energy batteries into his weapons, which create constructs that siphon energy from killed enemies and redistribute it to the needy Tenno. The effectiveness of this ability is determined by the initial energy investment, as well as by whether the killing blow is a headshot. Just like the stock market, am I wrong or what? Probably. You might be wondering why headshots would make killer non-nanobots more efficient, and the answer is simple: thinking matter. For Transference related reasons, these constructs are far more efficient when consuming neural tissue or the robotic equivalent. Let's just keep it at that: I tried elaborating on the effect three times now, and the explanation always winded up being longer than the rest of the report.
  • Just like my sense of humour protects me from a catastrophic crisis of faith related to a highly classified event, so too does Covenant protect the Tenno cell from a catastrophic disassembly event. This is some serious technology, readers. Get yourselves comfortable.
    • We never had to tangle with this subsystem in the Red Veil, and what I'm writing here is mostly guesswork. As far as we can tell, a part of Trinity's Blessing subsystem is recycled to provide a short-duration invulnerability. That system is nasty enough on its own, but it gets worse. While this effect is active, attacks are not merely stopped, but harnessed for their energy. If our readings are right, and they always are, the Condemn subsystem harnesses the temporal potential energy of the attack hitting without Covenant's effect. One of my colleagues did some research about this kind of temporal tech. Even in the old days, this technology was so bleeding edge you could have used it as a ritual sacrifice.
    • This harnessed energy is then channeled into the weapons of those affected. At least this bit is simple enough. The energy constructs are reused again, but instead of having them do matter-useful stuff conversion, they are just made to kill. Critical amounts of damage ensue, and things get horribly murdered as a result. There's also something about Transference and thinking matter here again, so headshots do even more damage. I'm still not going to attempt to explain that effect.
    • For the record, I am of the opinion that they still could have just used nanobots. This subsystem alone needs four Orokin Cells just to function normally, and those don't exactly sprout from the ground like some sort of a tuber.
What a Harrowing (pun maliciously intended) read, wasn't it? Sadly, there's not much to read about this Warframe's origins and intended use during the old war. All records available on Harrow have been provided to us by the Red Veil, and, as far as I know, they simply don't go back that far. My guess would be that the Orokin wanted Trinity 2.0, but, judging by current Tenno usage statistics, what they got is a Trinity for operators with good aim.
For my taste, this Warframe just seems horribly over engineered. Jokes aside for a moment, Harrow is a model with many clever design options and an impressive degree of combat effectiveness, but the baffling amount of unneeded complexity is emblematic of late Orokin designs. The corrupt bastards wanted to extend a middle finger to the laws of physics, but at what cost?
Their common sense, probably. Try not to lose that thing, Tenno. I don't want another highly classified event.
